Salebarn Prices

I am planning on selling some steers and heifers today. I looked at Hattiesburg prices yesterday. Steers were up 10 to 30 cents and heifers up 10 to 25.
I was going to keep 8 or 10 heifers, but cut it back to 3. Now I may keep none. I have 24 that are ready to take a ride. This is a hard decision deciding
to keep 3 or not.

Don, where do you sale besides Hattiesburg? Tylertown? Lucedale runs pretty close to Hattiesburg. I see the same order buyers at all three. I haven't been to Tylertown in a while but it seemed to be the lower of the three.

Tylertown is about 10 miles from my places. We used Hattiesburg when we had a place at Mize. That was many years ago.
I have a 16 ft. trailer, do you think it would be worth the time, travel, and cost? I am retired I hope I have plenty of time.

Don, I think you'd do better at Hattiesburg. But I haven't been to the Tylertown sale in about 2 years. As you know a lot of dairy cattle goes through there.

The dairy numbers have really been going down in this area La. and Ms.

We sold a group of steers last week of June at lucdale for $2.36 per pound for 575 weights. We also sold commercial bred cows and heifers off the farm for $2200 and open weaned heifers for $1200. They weighed about 500lbs. We sold down with these prices.
