Our local salebarn didn't have a sale this week due to the weather. Do you think the demand will be higher resulting in better prices or do you think there will be more calves cancelling out the possibility of higher prices due to higher demand? For those of you who frequently attend sales what do you see in this situation in your area?

Thanks

A sale day was missed at Tylertown Ms.(Sw. Ms.) a few weeks ago, and prices were up some the next week. I think this was due to the national market.

It depends more on the market. If cattle go down and feed gets higher your local market isn't going to improve next week because there wasn't a sale this week. Now had there been a sale with all the buyers in attendance but shorter numbers than a normal sale, they probably would have been higher because they needed to make loads.

when a sale barn misses sales due to holidays or bad weather that means the supplies tighten at the packing houses.an it also means a shorter # of feeder cattle for the feedlots.so the buyers will be out looking for calves an packer cows an bulls to buy.
