Hauled some today sold an old cow that weighed 1430 that didn't have a tooth in her head got .67 a pound.
Sold one 4wt steer for 2.10 a pound. I picked up the finest Certified F-1 heifer I have seen in a long time for a 1000 frog hides. I will try to get some pic's of her tomorrow.

That 2.10 for a 4 wt. was a he77 of a selling. Didn't do bad on your cow either.

Good prices, Caustic. Wednesday, took some calves for a buddy to Harrison, AR. 386 lb bulls brought 185.50, 488 lb bulls 1.68 and 545 lb bulls 1.60. Didn't stay for cows. Tonight at a special sale at Springfield, Mo. Good bred cows were 1200-1400. Good pairs were 1400-1750. Not really any cows better that just good. Less than good quality cows were just about as high as good ones. Hard to believe were some starved yearling heifers, red, black, and baldie. They were thin, bred in second stage and weighed 669 lbs, with 9 in the group. They were set in at 600 dollars each, no one bid, so I finally did. I stopped at 800 and they brought 1075. That was crazy! Gonna take alot of care to calve out those yearlings.

I haul for a neighbor most every Sat and I just stick what I have on when I need to. Prices have been unreal and our barn is being flooded with beef from up Stocky and Dun's way.

Not unless the bull had his way today. She is a Certified F-1 the way I heading back to.
I have five that are 1/2 Herf to 1/2 to a 1/4 Brimmer only 10 more to go. I have a few older girl's I am culling out as I come across deal's.
I don't want anything but Braford girl's standing in my pasture when I get through. I am to old to try and rebuild my registered herd as I am not going to ever run that many cow's again after the drought.
I want a cow that if I put a Char, Angus or Hereford bull on that will raise a calf that mashes the scales down.
It is highly doubtful on the Char bull but I still have that option.

That's funny i was at harrison wednesday. had not been there but i am buying alot of 225 to 325 pound calves right now and thought since it is the same day as green forest and springfield that they might be cheaper but they were 20 cents higher than what i have been paying.but i was glad i went i thought it was very well run and will for sure go back since it is only an hour away.

Another great buy CB she looks good!

She was one of the commercial show heifer's from our county fair. Grand and resevered only make the fair sale.
She is halter broke and dog gentle. There was another one came through the barn and a bidding war got started on her for some reason as she wasn't the better cow. I figured someone knew the kid that ran it through and was bumping the price. Plan on making Galveston County commercial show and sale in the spring as they all sale at that fair. I have picked up some good one's there through the years.

I have been down that Simm and Char road and it wasn't a nice drive.
I can say never again on those two breeds and it aint cause I am scared of eatin crow.
It aint real bad eatin cept the feet and beak.
If either one of those breed's show's up in my pasture my fence is down somewhere.
I can't sell dead calves and I have tried.
I think I will just stick to Hereford , Angus or Brangus bulls.

Wore out a set of chain's pulling calves. With that said I know the breeds have made great strides in the last 40 year's.
Burnt child is scared of fire and this child got burned.
