Here are a couple of bulls I have in a multi vendor auction on Friday. See what you think of them, I'll post the results after the sale, hopefully I won't have to bring them home with me.

Hey Ken

I like the look of the first bull. He looks a nice moderate size. What do you think his framescore is? The photo angle of the second bull probibly doesn't flatter him. Hopefully things go well for you at the sale. Keep us posted.

Well I unloaded the two bulls today. The first fellow brought $5500 and the second $6000. I am very happy with the prices, they sold in the top half, the sale average was $4800.

I wonder how a beefier, typier bull would be received in your market?

That's Aust $, I think you would just about have to double that amount to get US $ dollars now. No the last I heard we were about 104 cents to the US $.
There were some chunkier bulls there. The vendor that topped the sale at $9500 and had another couple just below that, had some very thick bulls. Many people appreciated the fact that mine were not too overdone, they had spent all last summer out with the cows and I brought them in at the end of march to get them ready for the sale. The first fellow weighed 915kg, the second 880kg. The first bloke was the 3rd heaviest in the sale, those heavier two were older.

lol no 6000 ausie is about 6300 USA............how old are those bulls? Thanks for your post.
 
Diana, lot 33 the one by Nichols Extra was the $6000, I think of the 83, 2 scratchings and about 8 passed in. The starting bid had to be $3000.
Kingfisher, the first bull was 2years in early July and the second fellow 2 years in about mid August.

Thanks for your reply. The " Sale Bulls" we see around here are usually 1 /1.5 year old virgin Bulls. Now that you
sold em tell us about them bulls and show us what your replacing them with. Thanks in advance.
ps I think if that exchange rate would get right we could all go to Australia next year...........:)
 
Good weights on your bulls Ken- especially as they worked over summer. Which lots sold for the top prices in the sale and did they belong to the same vendor? I don't recognize most of the studs who offered bulls but they might be smaller producers like me or maybe they just don't spend heaps of money advertising.
 
We would certainly like to see you down here Kingfisher. You would be very welcome to drop in.
Most of our bull sales are aimed at two year olds, there is some resistance to buying yearlings.
I am only a small operation, I don't have the room to keep many bulls so by using them myself and leasing out a couple as yearlings, it gets them out of my hair for a while over summer and then I can get them ready for a sale. I didn't get too many bull calves last year, I have kept 2, one of them I think will be a pretty fair bull, he is by TC Franklin. I will get a photo of him to post for you.
Diana, the top price was lot 49, Bulliac from Miles, they had a couple more around the $7000 mark, they were nice bulls, well prepared and have a good reputation at the sale, nice people. That top selling bull though could be a bit of a handfull, he is very quiet, but very difficult to handle, if he wants to stop somewhere, you just can't get him to move, they have to push and shove him, he is a brick, very funny to see. I hope the new owners understand him.

Probably was a show bull. They like to stop for a tail scratch. Mine do anyway. Bulliac are very nice people- we often meet up at shows- and I'm glad they had a good sale too.
