Saddle Club Update

Got a big surprise tonight.
Ran into the arena owner that asked the club to leave. Got to talking with him and he suddenly brought up the club. I had promised him that I would never bring it up with him. So this surprised me.
He asked about insurance and if we could get some. HUH?
Told him yes. Wanted to know if it would just cover an event, told him it would be year round coverage.

Don't want to get the cart before the horse.
Just got me to wondering if he wants the club back in the arena or if he is thinking of turning it over to another saddle club. Some members that left started up their own club.
Thoughts from everybody would be greatly appreciated.

Somebody shoot me PLEASE!
I am caught between the president and vice president of the club.

The paperwork for the rental agreement with the State for the land lease of the one arena has started finally, was suppose to be started back in June. President is pushing for this one. This is the one that the owner has placed stipulations on with the purchase.

The other arenas owner does not want to sell the land it sits on, but has said he would like to enter into a lease agreement with us. The only thing he has asked is he has a say in things that are done. (Former president had a storage shed put on his land without asking.) Vice president wants to go back to this one.

I'm ready to resign and walk away permanately.
Calling a meeting to let the members know of this new option.
was asked at the last meeting about this second arena, but at that time it was not an option.

Any thoughts from anybody out there? Yes I have considered a cast iron skillet. I have a nice 6" one that I can swing rather well, as the hubby knows. :lol:
You guys and gals really helped with the first post of the trouble. Please help again.

i know of an arena who has chaged 100.00 per year from its members. This covers all club activies,that go on at the arena. Also the agrement covers all law suits(sp). The idea is you can't sue yourself.They have been in business for 35+ years. hope this helps. Cindy

State law covers non profits from lawsuits as long as that group has done nothing to knowingly cause injury.

Lease cost on the state land is $100.00 a year. Insurance for a year was quoted at $600-$700 a year. president is pushing me to put the insurance on the lease even though it has not been turned over to the club yet. Like putting insurance on a car you dont own. The roping club is using the arena, my concern is they are not members and could be injuried then we have to pay for it.

Other arena was the one we were asked to leave. So it was a surprise when the owner asked if we were interested in coming back. Nice place with places to park, cafe across the road. Can't think of anything wrong with it.

It is crazy they both want me to choose their side and help sway the club members that way. I'm trying to not choose sides, but both officers got into a fight and are not speaking, so I am forced to be the go between. That is why I am considering leaving.
Would a hot shot work?

I think that I would resign and let them duke it out. It will only get worse.

Being in the middle is never the best place to be unless it's in a sandwich and that's a whole other topic in itself. I would just step back and let them make up their own minds. I wouldn't necessarily resign especially if you like working in the saddle club. Just refuse to be the middle man.
