I am thinking about a round baler and wanted some opinions. I want a smaller bale 4 foot diameter and I think I want a net wrap (comments). Any particular brands to look for or stay away from?
Any advice when buying a used round baler would be great.
thanks

You should pm iornpeddler, he is a expert on balers. I would reccomend a vermeer rebel 5400. Since you want to put up 4 x 4 bales the rebel is a baler that can be used with a small horse power tractor. 40 hp or bigger.

I think you can get them with a net wrap and you can make up to a 4 x 5 bale if you ever needed to. I think new they run about $13 or $14000. I gave $6500 for mine and it was a 2004 model very lightly used. I really like my baler. I have never weighed my bales but i think they would weigh about 850 lbs to 900 lb bales and they are good looking bales and stack well.

Good luck.

If you are going to use a smaller baler,I'd look at net wrap if you you can't store them inside.A 5'X4' would be a good choice since you can make a 4X4 also.

Who is your nearest and best dealer is the brand you had better go with. Hay balers break down here a few weeks ago I had two Veermers and a Krone down. Krone was back up in a day local dealer still waiting on a part for one Vermeer.
