Road conditions

Our county does all the mowing, guardrail fixing, road lifting, gravel hauling, road grading, etc in the summer. The only thing they don't do is paving, but they do all the prep work.
Thats how it once was here. Several people with power decided that it should be contracted. Guess who then retired and began contracting. They closed offices and mechanic shops. Now sime are back open and finally hiring a few full time employees.
Each contract job has to have full time inspectors to watch them. Its all a joke here. Anything we see wrong we have to call an office 4 hours away to get an answer.

I have been here 6 full winters. I can count the times the county has plowed the road in front of my house on my fingers. Probably the fingers on one hand. The state does a good job on the freeway. The county has forgotten we even exist. The closer you get to Baker City the more the county road dept works.
Need to get elected county commissioner to get your road plowed. Conservation district supervisor doesn't have the same pull with the county road and bridge guy.

I don't need that head ache just to get the road grader to go down the road once or twice each winter. Our annual precipitation is only about 10-12 inches. Most of the time the couple inches of snow only stays for a few days.
