With all the posts and people having ringworm problems, is there a relation between the time of the year and number of cases? I think i can remember somebody saying that the cold weather would also help to kill it off, but it seems like everybody including my self has had a few cases show up. Some people have said that it is a one time deal on calves and they rarely see it on cows but in my case it is my yearling heifers that have had it and not a single case on any of the bulls. Can ringworm fungus be isolated in a single pasture and continually infect calves in that pasture? Any thoughts or experiences?

my experience is that ringworm tends to show up more when its coolish but not really cold, moist but not necessarily wet, and the days are short. sunlight, dryness and cold or hot tend to help it go away, it seems. but it probably has to just run its course.

i see it mainly in yearlings.

Probably. To me, it always seems to be worse starting early January to March, then slacken off when its around early spring.
