Just got the results in from our first group of calves not destined for our table. A smaller load of heifers in 2 relatively uniform sized groups.
5 weights heifers brought 1.39 avg and 350 avg heifers brought 1.85 avg. better than the market averages for the day it looks like.

Less than 20 but more than 5. Half went to one buyer which I assume was a feedlot. The other Hal were mixed buyers

I wanted to know because I have heard that bringing a uniform load enhances price. Seems like that is the case with you. Thanks...

I didn't sit for the sale but I heard they ran them individually. Probably just got lucky and had the right buyers. I've got another small group I'll take in next weekend. Also all heifers but more mixed so ill test that theory

All depends on what the buyers that are there need. Not 100% of the time but close to it, bigger groups or at least a good number of similar cattle at the sale, will help the market.

Took another small group in on Monday. We sat for most of the sale but had to leave before ours ran through. Most heifers in the 350-450 range started at 1.40 and steers at 1.60
Got 1.40 for a couple 450 lb heifers, 1.52 for a 300 lb dink heifer and got hammered for some reason on a 420 lb heifer at 1.08/lb
Not as good as the first group but not too bad except the low one. I wonder what happened with her.
We have one more group to gather up and sort out the calves that are ready.

On edit: the one with the ultra low price, it seems the tag fell off and got switched in the pen with a run down steer. The barn is following up and seeing what my heifer brought and will make it right. Should be about a 200.00 difference
