Rent?

I have 90 Acres for spring grazing now I no longer have cattle on it since sept. Neighbor wants to rent it just to eat the grass on it. Any ideas on what its worth to rent for a month or two?

I rent 60 acres across the road all grass, good pond,and a feed barn for 30 dollare an acre. Thats the going rate around here. 25 to 30 an acre. North/east Alabama.

That is a comparable rate for this area of North Texas as well, for a year's lease.

How good of a neighbor is he. This may be one of those times you let it go for free. You may need something in the future. Ask yourself if you got a good enough return, and then go from there.

Sounds like you only want to rent it for a short time. Here, 10 dollars per month for a cow-calf pair is pretty much normal. Renting for the year, you can get it alot cheaper than that. If there has been plenty of rain and there is plenty of grass where you are, there may not be anyone interested in just renting for a couple of months in the spring. You will just have to advertise and see if anyone is interested in paying anything.

IF Hay costs and is worth something.

THEN Grass makes hay.

THEREFORE Grass is worth $$

Thus, there are always those out there that want hay or grass for nothing to feed their livestock.

Sounds logical to me!
