Renovating to Russell Bermuda

About five miles from me a gentleman is building riding stables, riding trails etc for boarding horses. He is planning on growing irrigated horse hay too.

He has bahia grass now on all the fields. He is going to roundup the existing grass, plow/disc and level, and sprig the Russell.

I gave him a price to plow and level and furnish a very good seedbed acceptable for the sprigging. 200 acres all total. He came by yesterday and told me that he had contracted with the sprigger to do all necessary work, including sprigging, for:

I can't understand it either. My price for burn down, and prepping was $125.00 per acre.

I think the sprigger convinced him that no one would/could do a better job than him. :mad:

I wonder about Doctors' sometimes. :(

Yes and I don't know. I.ve seen fields he's done and they look pretty dern good when they come in. Especially the Tifton. It seems like more and more prople are going to it down here. I know my horses like it better then birthday cake.Z

We can get it sprigged in that neighborhood if you use 40 bushels per acre. I prefer putting a minimum of 125 bushels per acre using a golf course sprigger. With rain, you can get 3 light cuttings of hay the first season with Tift 85 but it costs about $50 per acre more.
