Yeah, if we can survive their harmful UV emissions. They are now found to possibly be a govt sponsored and mandated cancer causing device. Yippee!!
("We're the Govt--We're here to help you")

A few years after scheduling incandescent light bulbs out of existence to make way for “better” more efficient CFL light bulbs, a disturbing new study points out that these “better” CFLs might cause…cancer.

Maybe the Surgeon General will make them come with a warning label like cigarettes do.

They never last as long as they say either. And you have to call the epa if ine breaks in your house. Why would we want something like that in our homes

Found that out the hard (and expensive) way. Out of about 8, I never had one last longer than 6 months, no matter which brand or where they were made. I'm stockpiling and hoarding incandescents now.

Same BS as the ozone hole the freon caused. And the dead zone in the gulf of mexico.
It's all a bunch of B.S. and a way to raise taxes and control our lives.

Has anyone tried the LED bulbs? They are pretty expensive like 40 bucks a piece and have like a 15 year guarantee and use alot less energy than the cfl's and I think they are safer and they sure are bright.

LED are about the safest and most efficient light source because they only use a flow of protons like the old one's used electrons, but you are right they are to expensive for anyone to use. They are starting to make them larger, and emit more light and hopefully will get cheaper in the future.
I always liked LEDs because they came in green.

There is a freon that I can use which cost $300 a jug with over $250 of this being tax.

Been wanting to try LEDs too, but figured I've heard all this hype before and wasn't going to fall for it again.

Electrons 'do' flow in led lighting, but only to the extent of recombining with the empty spaces (holes) in a band and releasing a photon in the process.
Been some reports that LEDs will cause certain pigments of paint to change color, so if you have old oil paintings that you value, be carefull--especially if the paintings contain yellow--leds have permanently turned yellow to brown in some art museums.
