Well if I could do what I hope to do one of these days and it may take winning the Lotto ( I do buy a couple of tickets each week). I would stay where I am with the cattle that I have now, keep the same great breed that I love. Longhorns of course. I would buy as many good Emperor and Coach daughters as I could find and I would breed them to some of the top bulls in the industry today. I would utilize Coach, Awesome Viagra, Superbowl and some of the good Round Up sons out there in my breeding program. I would also AI back to many of the old bulls from several years ago.
On my straight Butler breeding I would AI to Monarch, Classic and Dixie Hunter. I would go heavy on Phenomonon and Emperor in my blended herd. Also go back to Diamond W 505, Tin Horn, Tabasco, Texas Ranger JP and King. I have alot of females that are grand daughters of these bulls and I would breed the grand sires back on some of them.
I would continue to take my cattle to to sales and promote them through advertizing in the Trails and other publications. When I did start to sell some of the big horned off spring for astronomical figures I would just continue doing exactly what I do now. I wouldn't buy a boat, a race car or a summer place in the islands. I wouldn't learn to play golf (don't know how and don't care to learn). I would hire a good hand to help out but no way no how would I turn it all over to someone else while I go play because I couldn't stand that. I do this because I love it, don't know of any other thing that I would rather be doing and I just want to breed great cattle and actually make a little bit of money on them, at least let them pay for themselves.
