I was at the local coffe hangout yesterday and overheard this feller saying his uncle got checked by the tx DOT for red diesel and got caught using it in his truck. He said the state got him for a thousand dollar fine and the feds fined him a dollar a mile for the miles on his odometer.
Also tax evasion(sp) and was classified as a felony.
I am curious as if to know the truth in this.Sounds pretty serious to me.
However I don't use it in my truck since I use gas.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine was running it and got caught while pulling peanut wagons from the field. Seems like it ended up costing him $6000 per truck plus this was turned over to the IRS and he was audited as well. Its definitely not worth it. On the flip side, I was talking to a friend who owns a truck dealership and he was saying these new trucks will not take the red diesel well as it will mess up the injectors and seals. The Air Force purchased a bunch of his trucks and kept bringing them back for warranty repair work on the motors and the red diesel was in the motors which voids the warranty. He fixed a couple but they kept brining them back and he finally told them he would no longer do warranty work if they continued to burn the red diesel. So is guess it just goes to show there are two sets of standards.

I've been searching and cant come up with any info on what the fine is.

That would be about like trying ot find what the fine will be for tax evasion I would think.

What is silly about it is you can keep a journal of your fuel purchases and get a refund for your taxes. By doing it this way you can burn the green fuel in your trucks but only have to pay off road price for it. It just requires keeping some more paperwork and submitting it at the end of the year. I know someone who does this and this is what pays for his family's vacation each year and they have some good ones. DotGov has replaced common sense with paperwork so you can near about get away with murder as long as you can make the paperwork balance out.

I know a guy that burns green in everything he fills his truck out of the same bulk tank and writes it off .

I know I do and a lot of other people here run 2 cycle outboard motor oil with this LSD.
I got a gallon in the back of the truck right now run a quart to every fill up. The stuff I am running is blue the Mecury
Quicksilver oil used to red. I haven't bought any in a long time. I even run it in my dyed diesel tank as the new stuff is
LSD just died red.

Yeah, if you are willing to put up with the paperwork and you burn enough to make it worth the hassle there is really no way to get caught unless you just get stupid with your percentages. Its not worth it to me and I'm not about to burn the red stuff in my truck and risk getting the huge fine and have the IRS on my back.

Occasionally they sit at the stockyard checking tanks. The risk far outweigh the benefits.

What does it say about our nation when you can walk up and punch someone in the face and as long as you don't leave to much of a welt it's a misdemeanor and you'll likely walk away with no concequences but if you run a non-taxed fuel you're a felon?

Its one thing to kill a person and quite another not to pay taxes.

I have a friend who if you ever smoked pot or have done cocaine east of the Mississippi you most likely were using his stuff. After seven years of investigation he was finally arrested. He spent one night in jail and paid a $53 million fine but only $52 million was reported to the press. He said he paid 53 and I believe him over the gov't. While I do not in any way condone what he did I do have a higher respect for him than a gov't that is willing to sell what they call justice to the highest bidder especially when you consider the many lives and families he destroyed peddling this poison. I just don't get it.

Right after the dyed undyed fuel regulations took place, I got caught in SD. The pick up had No.2 undyed fuel in it, but I topped it off with No.1 dyed fuel (6 gallons total) because it was going to -20 in the morning when I left home. Dyed was all I had at the farm. I burned both tanks out on the trip, filled up the tanks at a truck stop, and got checked shortly after leaving the parking lot. The trooper pulled fuel with a pink tint. I told him exactly what I had done. I had to pay a $1,000 fed tax fine, and a $500 state tax penalty. Been running undyed ever since.

Dump green/blue-colored 2-stroke oil into the fuel mix and you'll be good to run dyed. I put a pint in an 18 gallon tank of undyed and then I don't have to hesitate to add dyed if I get caught in a situation like yours.

We had a preacher a few years back that got cought at the salebarn running red fuel he got a 5000$ fine but then got it reduced to about half.Worst part about that deal was he then got on local tv and lied about not really knowing it was against the law.

Who'd have ever thought a preacher would lie or steal. Wasn't a babtist was he? :lol2:
He was not a babtist. but he later stole all the money from the church and everything out of it and moved the church, only a few people went with him, and the rest of us stayed and started over.

Ahhhhha...pentecotal charismatic. They're the only ones that "own the church". Also get "all the take" every week. Some are quiet successful at it. Just turn on the TV.
