I am currently using excel to track my herd's records (roughly 40 cows & 30 calves). I was curious if anyone has had any luck with an app or software that makes record keeping more efficient. Thanks in advance!

I use an app called Livestocked. You pay by the amount of head you have. Less than 100 head is one price per year. Don't remember just how much it is but it's handy.

I used to print a hard copy. Carry it in the truck. Redline any updates and then input it into the computer later on. Human factors and error were always an issue. But it kept me close.

Hello! @Brute 23 makes a very good point and was my thought as well. Possibly on the down side is there may be a factor that is found on the app that you don't think of to make an entry for it and need it at a later date. At the same time, if you have the app but it is asking for info you don't see as worthy to record, you end up leaving it blank. Same end result. The converse is potentially true in that you may want to record something that the app doesn't offer to be recorded.

Stay in touch if you want. I'm moving to SC and will be the State Grasslands/Grazing Specialist for NRCS.
