Tired of all this heat humidness but thankful for the rain it helps me get through it. But in the off time while indoors there isn't much to do. Not much to watch while sitting out the rain etc... So yeah I'm ready for some football. The wildcats are gonna take down the gators, yeah been saying that for years but still I'm ready for some football. The thought of deer season has me anxious to try out my Ruger 357 rifle on deer yeah I'm ready for Fall.

I'm with you FlyingL!!! I am counting down the days till Fall... Football and Hunting!
Can I Get a Roll-Tide!!!

Huh ur not a vols fan, go gamecocks!!!

U have nice deer in TN? You wouldn't believe how many southerners come up here for our trophy whitetail in November. Beats sc any day of week for hunting but I never tried tn. Lot of huge whitetail bucks in Nebraska though and not enough people to hunt them all - LOVE IT!!!

Counting down the days until football starts, still trying to decide which college team to cheer for this season. Week three going into Lincoln to take down Big Red........ I hope.

Yeah, M5 guess you're right the years seem to fly by. Yeah here shortly I'm going out to try and enjoy the push mower some more. At least my cold drink afterwards will be that much nicer.

Nah, m5 is still sore about having to buy a Oregon Ducks shirt and showing it off on CT. :hide:

Doesn't bother me any, not a native Nebraska boy.

Alan maybe you could cheer m5 up by sending him some Florida St. gear and a Best Wishes card for the upcoming season. Personally I like both football teams. Also Oregon helped create Rich Brooks and Florida St. brought us UK fans Mark Stoops, but it's time for him to deliver winning results. Go Big Blue let the vols, gators, bulldogs know UK is a contender this season for the east.

I think the East is wide open.....besides MU, they will be terrible. As KU doesn't ever really have a good football team, I get to watch a lot more different games. College football is getting better and better than the pros in my opinion. But yeah ready for some football and deer season. This heat has been kicking my butt this year and the humidity never let's up....but on the bright side my pastures do look really good.

The often wrong Amway preseason coaches poll is out:
(I am really surprised to see that Baylor even made the top 25 cut considering all the media hoopla in off season, but I think they are underrated.at #21)

As a couple of 'asides".....
1. If you do twitter (I don't) do not use #UGA for Georgia Bulldogs--Twitter officially awarded that to the country of Uganda for the Olympics.
2. I have no idea what this headline means and I don't want to know either.

Where the heck is USC not university of spoiled children (so cal) but the Gamecocks?

More on the reported Big 12 expansion.
E. Carolina (Who?) is out.
“While it is obviously not the decision we were hoping for, I am confident ECU put forth its best effort during this process,” a statement from the school’s athletic director, Jeff Compher, began. “Through a determined approach we were able to tell our story to not only the Big 12, but the entire nation. Our student-athletes, coaches and staff will continue to proudly compete for championships in the American Athletic Conference and we will represent our alumni and community with great resolve. We remain Undaunted!”

Nine other AAC members (Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple, Tulane, UCF, UConn, USF) are up for consideration by the Big 12. Schools from Conference USA (Rice), the MAC (Northern Illinois), Mountain West (Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV) and the Sun Belt (Arkansas State), as well as football independent BYU, are considered to be expansion candidates.

It’s believed that some combination of BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, UCF and UConn will ultimately be part of any expansion. A report from TMGSports.com surfaced overnight that stated invitations have been sent to those six schools, as well as USF and two other unnamed AAC schools. Those on the receiving end of the invitations are expected to take part in another round of presentations, after which the conference will settle on their new members.

Slim pickins....I wonder how much impact the outcome of the Oklahoma vs Houston game will have on this decision? If Houston wins big, would the conference decide they don't really want a strong school to join the conference? If Oklahoma skins the cougars, would the conference say Houston isn't 'good enough"?

I don't use Twitter either GB. But that still stinks. I vote to use #DAWGS. If Twitter awards that one to Hillary then I ain't standing up for the National Anthem :hide:

UNLV and New Mexico are also out of the Big 12’s expansion derby. They didn't say why.

I haven't kept up with the Big 12 expansion at all. I was thinking it would be an easy deal with either Boise St, Colorado St, BYU or maybe Utah St, but no such deal. I heard on the radio that another college was out, I can't remember the name but that fact speaks volumes, is was like a eastern South Carolina or that type of power house....and now New Mexico, UNLV? I would think schools would be jumping at the chance to be in a power five conference. In the Pac 12 the Pac 12 Network money is split evenly amongst the 12 schools, I wonder how much the Longhorn network is screwing things up?

Back to football, games tonight, not good ones but football. I'll be watching Oregon State get beat up by Minnesota, I like the Beavers and they have a pretty good second year coach, but Mike Riley really left the cupboards empty when he jumped to Nebraska.

I don't know that Minnesota game could be close. Our best running back broke his foot and we have never been able to throw the ball.

They may be jumping at the chance--I got the impression it was the Big12 itself that was doing the culling based on a number of parameters and qualifiers. Longhorn got not much leverage anymore, with such a poor showing last few years.
