We have been clear and cold for about 5 days now. The weatherman is saying no rain until late next week. I am so happy!!!!! I will take a hi/low of 36/20 with no rain over soggy wet 45/35 any time.

It's 32.4 deg here and sleet. I would rather have snow than sleet.

Had sleet early yesterday morning and this morning--turned to rain quick. Miserable. Chars are bunked down in the woods and the 3 beefmasters huddled in the loafin shed--left once to get some water and right back in the shed. Ya know it's bad when cows won't venture out in East Texas. Power went of a couple hours last night too. Ground is saturated and if we get any wind no tellin how many trees will fall.
We shore don't need no ice or snow--wife has to drive to Kingwood every day for school--she finally figured out I won't be around forever and is going for a nursing degree--at age 47.

Test ran the diesel generator today, still have about a cord of firewood left. The Mrs. can burn a lot of wood.
You can heat my house with firewood alone, the only problem is I am the one that get's the most heat out of it.
Load it on the mule in the barn then unload it to the wood rack on the back porch then to the rack in the house.
Had the propane tank filled last week. If we loose power I will kick the generator off and keep watching John Wayne movies.

The Great Ball of Fire in the sky has returned, and I'm so glad to see it. Guess I'm finally old--that wet wind over the last week has just blown right thru me. Cows are up and grazing and that's good--don't need them getting sick from all the dampness.

Calling for some rain tomorrow. I am ready for some rain, burned a few hundred acres and the smell of smoke is bad.

If you think the smoke smell is bad now, wait till that rain hits it. Around here, when I burn--the rain just puts out the small stuff and the bigger stuff smolders for days and days and the low pressure associated with rain just causes all the smoke to lay close to the ground. I've filled the whole bottoms before with smoke from the remainder of a pile that wouldn't fill a good sized fireplace.

It has been raining all night here outside of Cambellton. Hope we are getting this back home. The pastures and oats will be good to go with one more shot of rain.
