RAIN

Probably got around 4.5 inches over 48 hours, a nice slow rain, plenty of runoff into the tanks. We got 3/10ths a few days ago over 36 hours and 8/10ths at the end of December....a couple months late but here no less. Should be a good Spring if this keeps up.

Gotten 3 inches in the last 10 days. It will keep me from putting the cows on rural water.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT MST
TONIGHT.

* MAIN IMPACT...6 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATION.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL CONTINUE TODAY AND DIMINISH BY THIS
EVENING.

* WINDS...FROM THE NORTH AT 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH.

* OTHER IMPACTS...THE STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS WILL CREATE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY ACROSS EAST-WEST
ORIENTED ROADWAYS...WITH NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES
IN SOME AREAS. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT AND HAZARDOUS
AND CAUSE DELAYS. WIND CHILLS OF 10 BELOW TO 30 BELOW CAN
ALSO BE EXPECTED THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING WHICH COULD CAUSE
FROSTBITE ON EXPOSED FLESH WITHIN 30 MINUTES.

Our rain is a little hard ;-) And we're not even in a drought area, so really could have done without this- but as Dad used to say- never beech when you get moisture...

They just updated much of our area to a Blizzard Warning... Heads up NE MT and ND...

Snow still coming (probably about 6-8 on level now) but the winds have really picked up and now drifting bad.... I just came in from finishing the chores and it is flat nasty out... Blowing about 30mph gusting to over 40- temp is 5 degrees and they say windchill is around 20 Below...

Just heard the state weatherman say that this stuff should start moving east now- but might not be out of Montana til Saturday- with the 20 Below temps following it in... Predicting temps of 15 Below (windchills of -35) for tonight...

I talked to a couple folks right up along the Canuck border - and it sounds as tho they are getting much worse than I am...A couple of them said this was the worst blizzard they had seen in quite a few years...

Heres a picture of the Scobey MT Nemont office (telephone company)... The drift in front of the building is 9 feet high...

Raining here now--pond's already full to capacity from the last week of rain.
The Lord's pretty good at sending us the amt we need logistically, but I think I'm gonna ask him to tweak his scheduling part of it a little.

I'm really happy for all the texas cattlemen/women out there. They've suffered so many years with droughts, they are way over due. Not to downplay the droughts in the other states; I'm happy for all.

Another reason I'm happy is that the hay prices will drop, and the cattle prices will rise for the spring if this keeps up

Ice isn;t as bad as I feared. Everything just has a uniform 1/4 inch of it coating everything.

Going out this morning the wanie dog it the top step and missed the next 4. But coming in her feet must have run enough to cover 50 steps to get to the top.
