The farming community where I grew up had the last telephone "operator" in the state.... ya know when you pick up the phone and say "operator connect me to JL345"...
Cisco kid was one of my favorites, and of course my hero was Roy Rogers.

In the 70's there was a small town in CA with the operator only there from 8-5, it wa located in a travel trailer. The numbers were 2 longs 1 short, etc.
