quick to cycle

We had a 2 1/2 year old first calf mama cycle today. Her calf was born exactly one month ago in the extreme heat and drought we are having here in Texas. We AIed her with some inexpensive semen. She was in excellent body condition (bcs 6 or 7) and has been on high quality mineral, a few cottonseed cubes and not so great hay all summer. Our temperatures have moderated lately and we got a little rain. What do you think the chances are of her taking? Would like to hear the experiences of others.

I see no reason she shouldn;t settle. For us it's always the nutty extreme heat a copule of weeks after AIing that has caused us most problems.

happened to us alot this past Spring... We calve our heifers in starting Feb 1st and we just preg'ed them and 4 of them are going to have a Dec calf this year.. It is my fault I let the bull in there but I didn't think I would get them bred that fast.. did it mainly so the bull could loose alittle Winter Fat and lean up before pasteur..
