The qa is truly making life easier. Just now, I dropped the bucket, picked up the forks, loaded a tote of 200 gallons molasses on the truck, dropped the forks, picked up the spear, and loaded 8 rolls on the trailer. All in half an hour.

Good move, Hook. You won't be sorry. Now about the little spear or whatever for stability. Likely is needed, but someday will bent or whatever. Do like someone else mentioned and place two full size spears, low on frame. The two spears will stabilize, and then can act as fork for severaly chores. My loader was purchased with pallet fork and then I built a QA spear similar to yours. Two spears work well and will replace a seperate fork if built right. What you have looks like it was built right. But everything needs work sometimes and that may be when to change to two spears that can act as fork. Good Luck.
