Question for equine type people

Is there anything that will take the smell of equine urine, specifically, male equine urine, off of a dog? My weenie dogs love to roll in Gus' urine. He's my mini donkey herdsire. It stinks, well, I would have to spin the wheel of really bad adjectives to describe it. Dog shampoo just doesn't seem to do the trick. They seem to absolutely love it, as dogs are attracted to the worst smells imaginable.

Short of keeping them inside all the time, or being with them every minute, is there any way to keep them out of it? I know that when Gus catches them, he'll run them off.

It smells so bad that it will make the outdoors stink.

Cant remeber for sure but baking soda and peroxcide mix works well. I got it off of Ask Jeeves.

i think i read somewhere that tomato juice doesn't actually work. can't be sure though. did you do a search on ask or google?

Yes, and I got the perxide and baking soda thing. I just didn't know if there was anything that horse folks knew that the rest of us don't. I appreciate everyone's help. I have to go wash the dogs. :oops:

i looked some more and found the same, only with 1 tsp of liquid soap like ivory. supposdly the solution creates an oxi mix that should zap the smell out.

I use this on my bird dogs when they find a skunk except I usually use equal parts of all ingrediants. It works wonders

That I will try! I am sure that I will have the opportunity to try it out as soon as the dogs get over being bathed and wander to Gus' pasture again! We do this about once a week. I guess they need baths anyway!
