GB,
when I was young my Mom used to feed us corn meal mush regularly. I relate this to polenta. Instead of grits she would stir in corn meal in the boiling water. Still grits but a different consistency. Guess she found corn meal cheaper or more available than grits. I still remember it being a good hot cereal for breakfast. Never had any left over to fry or make fancy food with!
