Purchased a Reg. 3/4 blood Simmental heifer today at the Family Traditions Sale at Sunset View in Auburn, KY. She's a LMF Movin Forward out of a SVF Star Power sired female. Turned a year old April the 7th. Paid $2000 for the heifer. Will hopefully pick her up Monday and get some pictures posted.

Yeah Tom I was happy with the price. I considered it a real good deal for a Register Homozygous Black & Homozygous Polled Female. I left Caldwell, went through Christian, Todd, Logan Counties and into Simpson. Tom I thought you were up that way because of our previous discussions where about again?

I am a little north, near Morgantown. Hauled a bull for someone that bought one up there before. Prices seems ok on her, you never know all the them are a chance even if you raise them.

Hasn't been long ago I was in the Morgantown area looking at a hay roller. I usually tend to find myself up in that area twice a year for something.
Was it off Craigslist, right on highway 231, guy named Robbie?

Tom, think that might be right. I'll have to ask dad to be sure. He's been looking at rollers for awhile.
What size is he looking for? I would like to upgrade myself but I need a 4 x 5 as I don't have the HP to pull any bigger.
That guy had several setting there last week.

Dad wants a 5x5 or a 5x6 with a net wrap or surface wrap which makes them harder to come by. It was a JD 566 that we looked at. I kind of prefer the 4x5 or 4x6 myself, makes it easier moving or if we sell any. Dad has a Ford 8340 he wants to pull one with.

Do have a brand preference?

Great purchase. We have a Movin Forward first calf heifer, like her a lot. We also have a Moving Forward May yearling. I won some heifer sexed semen, 10 straws, at the Sanders sale many years ago. I still have several straws left.

Not Really, Tom. Well, I suppose he's looking at the Deere's the hardest because of having a JD dealer so close to us. Be easier to get parts and service.
Firesweep, I think so or at least hope so. Have to admit I didn't get there early enough to walk through them all and get to see her before sale. So I just went on what I saw when she came through the arena, what knowledge I have on the pedigree, what they supplied in the catalog, and what I thought was a good price. Wasn't really planning on buying just out for the day. Thought I take in the Family Tradition Sale and then go on to the Good Girls Sale in Bowling Green, KY. Didn't make it to Bowling Green decided to come back home before storms hit.

you stole that heifer for $2000.around here you cant touch weaned reg beefmaster for less than $2500 to $3500 private treaty.

Thanks everyone! She sure stands out in the heifer lot with her being the only black and the other 3 being a uniform orange or red. Usually it would be the opposite with an odd red one. Think I heard them say the sale averaged $4299.00 on 76 lots. Sunset View also sold the dam of my new herd sire in the sale. She would be 9 in September, and sold with a month old Star Player bull calf on the side. The pair brought $6300.
