Wait, how will making them take a public shower ONCE cause these girls to dress "immodestly" ? Seriously, this seems like quite the overreaction to something most of us had to endure while growing up.

once probably wont but if you cant see how encouraging people to go naked in front of other people could lead to such behavior your an idiot! and nothing i could say is going to change that

I was not an adult in school and it was very common for the modest ones to wear underwear. Your a Young EZ and some of the most modest women you'll ever meet showered together in the 50's 60's and so on. It has only become an issue with the latest generations turn everything into perversion. Walking around in public naked is showing a body off. taking a shower is not. Don't ever go to Europe because I hear that the bathrooms are communal and its all right there in front of you.

just because you encourage bad behavior doesn't mean they will all turn out bad but it sure as heck wont help

Things like basic training and the local gym are completely different! You are an adult you knew ahead of time and you signed up for it! Having your girls (8 9 and 12) taken by surprise using a public shower with a bunch of old ladys they don't know is just wrong

This is where you're missing the point EZ. When you learn to do hard stuff earlier in life, it becomes easier to do as an adult. It's called learning to cope. Most 11 to 12 year old boys aren't jumping up and down on mandatory shower days in PE class ( yes when I was a kid we had mandatory shower days and you failed if you didn't shower) but you did it, and by the time you were in HS for gym or other sports, no one thought twice about hitting the showers and washing up. So by the time I was an adult, showering in college or Military or any where else isn't even a thought. It's just something you do to get clean. Like anything else in life that can be a challenge ( think hard work, water skiing, riding a bike) it's easier when you learn it at a younger age. Sometimes it isn't always fun or easy, but you learn to deal. Maybe thats what the girls parents are trying to expose here.

As far as dressing immodestly, i would look for other influences instead of public showers...maybe like the culture a young woman is raised in that typically sexually objectified the female species to sell magazines, movies, music and anything else you can think of..might start there. Many a young gal is not taught to value herself for anything other than her physical appearance and sexuality. I know many on this board raise theirs different...but this board us NOT a reflection of the majority of the world we live in.. You're a good young man, just keep your eyes, mind and ears open.

I don't see anything wrong with it and I agree with it teaches them to have coping skills to deal with things later in life. A true test of coping skills is when the bathroom has a dozen or more commodes lined up side by side with no walls between them. Now that's a true test of your ability to cope and teaches you to be efficient in your business and move on.

In 1965-1968 they were communal in Italy. Could be a bit disconcerting the rist 100 times, then you get used to it (sort of)

That is correct cmf :lol: We had open showers in hs and basic, and open latrines in Saudi. You get over it. Just go take a dump and get on with your day. No biggie.

I can see trying to make your kids as comfortable as possible though. I can see that side of it. But the facilities are what they are. Deal with it or get out of the activity. Or stink. Or flunk PE, and make it up somewhere else. There is most always other choices.

Edit: I just wanted to relay a story. I was "exposed" to plenty of trough urinals, lines of commodes, etc. I had a little gig student assisting with a very nice looking second grade teacher, when I was in high school. This was the newest building on the school, and built for little kids. I went to the bathroom and almost pissed in the sink. I had never seen a round wash sink in the middle of the floor with a foot pedal on it before

I know exactly what you mean because I DID pizz in the first one I ever saw. :oops: Thank God no one was in the bathroom when I relieved myself but I can't even begin to describe the embarrassment I felt when I later saw someone washing their hands in that thing. :oops: Yeah, I was out of my element.

I was never in a situation where I needed to take communal showers, I grew up pretty much alone most of my life, so I would feel awkward for sure... When I"m in the outhouse though I have no issues leaving the door open and having the birds and chipmunks staring at me

I think it's a personal thing, as to the why's of nudity being an issue or maybe the issues of being nude pubicly.

One would be how you were raised. You don't see too many kids with strict raising going around with their titz hanging out, at least they are not leaving the house that way.

Another may be self consciousness about their own body and lack of self esteem, which, I think is the bigger issue with the most damaging long term effect. Remember kids are the meanest little bastards there are, aside from isis axmen.
