Hey board,

Recently purchased a 499 New Holland windrower with a pto mounted hydrostatic pump. Pardon my ignorance, but when I mounted this pump....I see no way to lock it into place on the pto shaft ? Am I missing something here? There is a torque bar which chains to the tongue, but no locking mechanism to secure the pump in place? It seems like it would stay on the pto shaft....but at the same time seems like it should in some way be locked.

Thought I'd ask here before I call my dealer and really sound like a shhmuck. I've looked in my manual and see nothing about locking the pump to the pto shaft. ;)

Mine only uses a set screw. Had I noticed that I wouldn't have bought it. Look for an allen screw.

You can buy a spring loaded quick coupler that mounts with a set screw on the pump shaft then lets you connect it quickly to the pto shaft with the spring loaded end.

I looked that pump over up down and sidwise.....no set screw. It seems to just float on the pto shaft. The torque bar is chained to the drawbar bridge, thus I cant see how it would ever come off....still seems like it should be locked.
