In the past we've used insecticide ear tags and IGR mineral.
I've had mixed results with the flytags.
Some have seemed to work ok but none last as long as they are are supposed to, and sone don't work at all.
The IGR mineral does some good seems like, but the mineral itself that we'd been getting is not the greatest.
Late in the season last year at our local co op they recommended the Prozap Stand Guard pour on.
Used it again this year a couple weeks ago. So far looks like it's keeping back flies off pretty good. With that I'm able to keep out a better mineral.
We have to run them through the alley way to pour on, but it's much easier and less time consuming than catching them and tagging then going back through that again to cut the tags out.

We are thinking about getting a couple Lewis Oilers delivered next week and they recommend diesel with permethrin mix or ProZap. The salesman said 95% of his customers use the diesel mix but I'm learning towards ProZap. Glad to hear it's effective. Flies and live are our biggest problem from February to October. We've tried several things but nothing seems to work for more than a few weeks.

I think that the insecticide used in each of those would determine whether to alternate or not. It is drug that needs to be alternated, not their method of delivery.

Correct you need to look at the active insecticide and alternate that year to year. Use the same one year after year and you risk resistance.
