I gave 5 cc of ProstaMate to the last 12 heifers in the AI pen. They all have heat detect patches.

Should I expect a different quality of heat ?
What does it tell you if they still don't show heat?

If they are already cycling, you would expect about 60% to cycle off of one shot of prostamate. If they don't show heat with a single shot of prostamate (or Lutalyse, estrumate) then just luck of the draw you caught them in the wrong part of their cycle (no CL) for it to work. If you gave a 2nd shot in 7-10 days then you should have near 100% cycling.

Without cidrs I've found 1 shot of prosamate/lutalyse ect to be less effective in heifers (50% or less) than in cows. Without a 2nd shot all of the remainders should be in heat in about 21 days. Although if 1 came in heat and you missed her it'll be more like 28-30 days.

I bred off natural heats for eight days. Hot here so going mostly off heat detect patches.

Then gave the ProstaMate shot, but not seeing any flurry, yet.

What is typical success rate for heat detection using the patches?
