Problem or Opportunity

RD I have had two Chows. They were both great family dogs. The male bit me more than once, usually because he didn't think I should be the Alpha male and I felt different. I loved them both and never felt more secure, but they are biters.

Apparantly the problem seems to have worked itself out once I got Eli back from the pet hotel. Seems he didn't like the idea of these new cats around "his" house and he ended up running them off and I haven't seen any in two days. Gotta love a good dog. Maybe the overpopulation will not happen again like it did last time. I do think the whole situation is rather ironic.

They can be pretty dominant and will take over the house if you let them. Biters are usually a result of bad breeding, I know, I had one too. The well bred ones are a joy to have around. I just recently lost an old one, she was 11 1/2, she would never have even thought of biting someone, no matter what they did to her. She did love to chase the neighbors cats when they tried to sneak over. :D

Friend of mine has board fence around back yard and lets dogs out there. They bark when people come near

Some kids came by and a four year old asked,
"Those your dogs in there?"
"Yes."
Kid, "Are they biting dogs or licking dogs"?

If you feed a cat dog food it will go blind.
Call your local animal control, they will help .
A cat is an "oblagate carnivor" meaning they need much more proten than a dog,who is almost an ominivor..
Dog food does not have the needed vitimins, minerals and protein...
(please excuse the spelling,it's been a long day so far..)

I think your right about the cats and protein. I guess that's the reason my neighbor who had 46 cats at one time would roam the country side and fence rows on my place and killed all the rabbits and quail.
Needless to say but i have absolutely have no use for a damn cat.

We have three cats and they live a life of luxury. I prefer dogs though. But whether it be dogs or cats I don't think it is right to just collect them and not properly care for them. I think any animal that is left to breed and interbreed will create a problem for themselves or the environment. I think it ironic that my neighbor feels she is saving them when in fact she is creating a much greater problem. Forcing neighbors to call the humane society to capture an euthanize them is just a sugar coated way of avoiding the ugly truth that they are killed due to her ignorant love.

Horder--Most of them have mental problems.. A lot of them are women who have been abused.. Animals are the only creatures that have never hurt them..The horder can stand there and look at a rack of bones horse or dog and honestly (to them) see a fat healthy animal. Some horders are sure the animals love them and want to stay with them when all the critter wants is food.. Hordeing is a form of mental illness that is slowly being reconised... Some people hord trash, which doesn't involve any other liveing thing, but still.........

Peg, what you said just made a lot of pieces of the puzzle come together. One of the reasons I can't bring myself to say something to her is that I know the POS she was married to and know she has had it tough. Just didn't consider what you said but I wouldn't doubt there was some form of abuse. She has three children and I have spent some time with her son and he kinda took up at our house for a while. She blew my mind one day by thanking me for being a good influence and father figure to him since his father hasn't spent a day with him in 10 years even though he only lives a few miles down the road. I just figured I was being neighborly. I always just figured he came here cause we keep a fairly clean house whereas all the animals in hers makes it rather disgusting so much so none of my children will spend the night or eat at hers. Its really a shame. Thanks for the insight cause now I can view a few things from a different perspective however I do hope she will cut back on the cats so they don't again become a problem cause I don't want to have to be the bad person in this situation.

 :lol2: Gotta love kids.
just like you have to cats , sorry a bit of a PETA about cats. and I must say most of this thread made me feel sick. I'm with peg on this one.

I write or say alot of things in the name of fun that I would never ever consider doing. Just because it is written does not mean that it is intent, but merely adjectivally expressing ones feelings. I do not, nor ever will, condone cruelty to any living being.

I totally agree with Peg, in that, people that are starved for affection, have a sense of comfort by having an animal that will constantly rub on them, as in a cat. As for me, they just have a tendency to rub me the wrong way. I can usually pick out a cat person, if not by the hair all over them, then by their total possessiveness.

Just a couple of years ago, there was a murder of a 14 year old girl in a small community not far from here. Donations were sent in to Crime Stoppers for a reward for any information in the case. The total collected amounted to just over $3000. A year later donations were taken up for information in a case that involved a dog that was shot and the amount collected came to just over $10000. Things such as that make me feel sick.
