does anyone use it and what is the benefits of using it on a bottle calf

Probios, or any other microflora medium that aids and introduces the proper bacteria to the rumen of cattle is beneficial, especially at times of stress, when changing from grass to feed, etc.

It aids in digestion, thus helping the natural immune system in cattle.

It has even shown to be beneficial in cows that are being flushed. More eggs harvested.

These products have just begun their usefulness in cattle. More and more people are seeing the benefits of giving it to calves at weaning, before going on test, before a winter feeding regimen, etc.

Yeast has been used in feed for years but is somewhat less efficient.

probios is great stuff. but if you can't find it..or just need to cheap out...plain ol yugert will work, but not as well. it contains only two of the needed bacterial enzymes that is also in probios.
But if you need to get that gut colonized with something. may as well make it a good guy and yogurt can help get ya started..

probios constains;
5 different benificial bacterias plus more.

yogurt contains just lactobacillis acidophilus and bifidobacterium, but better then nothing.......
when I get newborns in, or calves off of treatments, I give some probios, then back it up mixing yogurt in with feedings... it also of course has nutritional benefits as well. :cboy:
