I am selling some feeders this weekend (private treaty). I live in Eastern Pa and have a mix of steers and heifers that wll be sold. They will probably average between 700-800 lbs. I sold to same person last year, same weights for $.90. That will obviously increase this year. I have seen prices all over the place. My goal is to be fair to buyer and myself. Any thoughts appreciated.

I sold a load of 7 wt. steers on video two weeks ago for $ 1.49. Ok. City was
at $1.59 the next Monday. I usually figure my freight at about $.08 so I left
a little money on the table. The market has been steady to -2 in the last
couple of weeks. I have a load of heifers to sell and probably will not take
less than $ 1.38. Hope this helps.

I always chart the big feeder markets and figure my freight discout. I don't
know where you go with feeders from your part of the country or I might be
more help.

I noticed that there is not as much of a premium for loads now too. It might be better to sell the next load at the local sale barn, never thought I would EVER say that.

Actually, I am trying to cover all my bases. I have a buyer out to look at the
heifers and a mixed load, and the owner of the local salebarn has already been
out. They have a new deal where they offer loads during the sale with a 2%
shrink and a 2% commission and no fee if I PO the calves.

Monday 7 wt. heifers brought $ 150.39 on a weighted average in Ok. City.
That would put them at about $ 142 back to me.
