I just bought some ivermectin pour-on. I only needed the one liter jug for $40, but there was a 2.5 liter for $45 and a 5 liter jug for $57, What gives? Anyway, simple math, and expiration date, told me to buy the 5 liter and the drenching gun set-up. It'll get used before it expires (May 2014). Got home and noticed a problem :help: . The 5 liter jug comes with a "nipple" that screws on the top of the jug in place of the regular cap/lid. But, it doesn't have a tube/straw extending to bottom of the jug. So, WTF? Am I supposed to hold the jug upside down? Or am I missing parts/pieces? I bought this from Atwoods today. Only place open on Sunday, and those people employed there were no help. Couldn't do it today anyway because of the rain :D . But I would like to know if I'm just a dummy, or if I'm missing a fitting/straw, or if I need to modifiy my nipple cap to make a straw? I really don't want my wife to have to hold the jug upside down :lol2: . Jug came with a fancy strap so I can wear it like a backpack. I just can't see that working unless the jug is upright. I never bought the "big" jug before, only the little one that you squeeze and pour. Thanks for your insight to this very serious matter :cowboy:
 
Dam you're fast. So, you're saying the jug should hang upside down and should not have a straw? I think I can rig a straw a heck of lot easier than I can fasten that rig to my backside, upside down.
 
It is rigged to hang upside down on your back if you are doing a lot of cattle. We use it for fly control. We keep it hanging over the alley and apply as they pass by.

or hang it right side up, but turn the cows upside down :D
 
When I treat the bottle is upside down. When I store it's right side up. Just in case

OK, I'm a dummy :( I noticed the place loops for the strap on the top of the jug. I just now went and looked, and dam if there ain't place loops on the bottom too. How embarassing :shock: I think I'll have that beer now. Thank you men for not beating me up :tiphat:
 
I have a jar that's labeled by weight so I can just dump it into the jar and splash it down the cow. I had a little scare with young helpers and a weak fitting on the backpack system so I'm hesitant to do it that way again even though I know it's fairly safe.

Well, that's my thinking too. Why in he!! would it be "normal" to carry the jug upside down, when a simple straw would fix everything? I guess I could remove the straw from my pump up sprayer and carry it upside down too.
 
It's meant to be used upsid down becaue the dosing gun doesn;t draw a strong vacuum which is what it would need if it had to lift the stuff instead of letting gravity do some of thw work
 
I hear ya'll loud and clear. I already admitted to being a dummy (not an illiterate douche bag :lol2: ). I didn't see the place loops on the bottom of the jug until I had already made a fool of myself. I knew there had to be an obvious solution, and you guys set me straight. Now I just have to wait for the rain to stop, but I ain't in no hurry for that.
