I am looking for comments on the following Angus bulls to be used on Angus x Simme cows. I have access to all of these bulls, although some are more expensive than others. I will be looking to AI 10 of my dad's cows for practice after I take an AI class next weekend. Any thoughts or experiences with these bulls would be great. We will be looking for decent growth, good maternal traits out of whatever bull we use. Showring traits are not mandatory, but decent muscle is.

Thanks,

Either of you care to elaborate on why you chose 6595? Would you use him on heifers? What makes you like him, or not like the others, whatever the case may be.

He is also my first choice, just want to hear other opinions and experiences.

How about this bull James?

That's a lot of hamburger Cert. :D I'll have to consider him and do somebackground checks on him.

Oh man, you have to lot the hair the touch-up artist put on his tailhead, huh?

Slick bull, no hair at all, but he has it on his tailhead.

Too funny.

He looks like a good bull - He was bred by Evan Rayl in Iowa. He is supposed to have very good ultrasound date. RAF Prime Rib I believe!

I like the Alliance daughters. I really haven't followed a lot of the bulls on your list. 6i6 is good, I think. I wouldn't use him on heifers!

What color is the field? Brown? Could it be a winter pic where they sheared the bull and left the tailhead?

I know that Evan Rayl has calves from him (ER) on Advantage Cattle Services. His CED isn't too good, so I wonder about him on heifers. I thought I read that his calves have a somewhat "Smokey" Ultrasound indicating a different kind of marbling. It is supposed to be a good trait. I think he's a nice looking bull.

great disposition and reduced mature size. his calves are a little too short for our market, so we dont use him anymore

very good calves that buyers like to look at. He sired the top bull in our sale this year. Expectation is dead and semen is hard to find.

RP is not producing much and semen is expensive and hard to find. usually $40+ and a waiting list

we used him for some ET calves that were just born; his calves were quite a bit heavier than average and required assistance even though his EPDs and acc say they shouldnt.
