My Roth, IRA, and stock investment is being reduced each quarter a little at a time. Just like the cow ,market should have sold at the peak. Still receiving pretty good dividends in spite of the reduction in value. Looks like I may have owned the wrong stocks that in the past have treated me very well. I was told that the huge tax cut would really help us out what gives.

The threat of a "blue wave" has the market feeling queasy. Sell out now before the commies are back in charge.

I'm betting on a Red Tide, not a Blue Wave

Mine has never been better. I am so thankful that things are finally on the right track.

I applaud you for being an astute smart investor.

Just lucky , I lost my a s s from 08 to late 16 then things started on an upward path . call it being in the right place at the right time.

You're asking why your portfolio is eroding but we need to know what your holdings are (in general) to be of any help. I assume you mostly have mutual funds?

Sounds like you have some bad apples in the bunch dragging you down. The market is at an all time high. If you have some GE or Exxon you might be feeling the pain but they shouldn't all be down.

What are some of the one that are down by chance, if you don't mind sharing?

The S&P and DJ since 2009 has consistantly gone up, up, up.

The crazy thing is the high before the 2008 fall was around 1500 on the S&P. In "the big fall" of 08-09 it went to 750ish. We are at like 2800 now. when we fall we have a long way to fall. Hopefully people don't panic because it is going to look really bad on paper.

MO, T, BAC, CLNY, F, GM, PBI, WMT, WY, AA, GE, DUK, NYCB, OKE, PM, TRGP, OKE, VZ, AND XEL These are the symbols same still are worth more than I bought them for CLNY is one that I am down on it is a REIT. But if I had liquidated in 2016 I would have twice what I have now. One mutual VWNEX. I have converted a good bit of the IRA into the Roth. Some are still paying dividends that are more than you can get any where else. Plus I don't need the income from the dividends so I am just letting it grow and waiting. This is the list of all stocks all are down from the first of the year. Some I am underwater in and some are double from where I bought. Been waiting on Ford for a long time 12500 shares most bought at$5 and below.

I like your style. GE obviously has problems and Phillip Morris has cuts earnings outlook. You basically have a large cap portfolio geared towards income. I like your REIT as well. You may want to look at NLY once they bottom out.

Overall I can't argue with the logic behind any of your picks. I would do the same.

I look at what mine has gained over the last ten days, smile, and my feet get cold. How long will it continue? When should I dump ? Maybe I should stay for 5 more years and then dump before the election year.

I'm figuring on working 8 or so more years. I've tapered some more of my portfolio back into securities but they are not earning what T Rowe Price equity and others are.

Anyhow it is not like I am 35 years old and figuring on 30 plus more years before retirement.

I am and Im not buying any more of this high priced stuff. :) Im planning on selling a little off every time it takes a spike for the next 5-10 years or until it falls.

If I was planning on retiring in the next 5-10 I would be aggressively moving it.

You'll get the benefit of the tax cut when you file your tax return.
