That would be me! Two years ago I was breaking ice for my replacement heifers - the only pasture that doesn't have a well/stock tank. Broke a hole with my pic ax, got popped on the behind by a heifer, and went sliding across the pond like a dang hockey puck - still clinging to the ax. Had to do the crab walk/slug slide back to the bank. Zero traction, so had to stick my foot though the hole I just cut to get out. Naturally, it didn't occur to me to pull up the leg of my coveralls, so by the time I made it back to the house I was frozen and ended up with a bruise on my left butt cheek the size of Dallas. There may have been profanities. But at least I didn't go though the ice! Water well was dug that spring.Not to mention the hazards to humans out there breaking the ice for them.
