With this year's herd dispersals (too many for me to list accurately), please describe the Polled Hereford's leading breeder, say in 10 years, in the following categories:

(1) Cattle type leading breeder is most noted for

(2) Name of breeder

(3) Amount of acreage controlled for resourse usage

(4) Number of employees

(5) Total assets needed in US dollars

Sandhill Farm, Bennett, Ellis, Star Lake not necessarily in that order

I don't even know how to define who is the "number one breeder"? Would that be the breeder with the most registrations? The breeder who sells the most semen? The breeder who wins the most shows? The breeder who gets the highest return per cow exposed? In my opinion if a breed has ONE clearly identifiable undisputed breeder and everybody else is a multiplier of their stuff then that is either a small breed on the way up OR is a breed on the way down.

I believe what I am after is to stimulate thinking and replies, not a correct answer, as noone knows what the answers will be as farmwife mentioned. Star Lake may have the most volume now. KCF is combining 774 with 3008 in impressive eye opening ways. Sandhill appears to be really gaining momentum. Ellis appears to be creating exception carcass traits. One answer may be who you most likely would purchase from.
