Some impressive pics!! :D #13 is really unusual, I've never seen quite such a blue sky and yellow sunset, well not over on this side of the world - it looks like it could have been painted.

Probably used a polarizing filter. I voted for #12....

nope. used a canon powershot elph 100 hs point & shoot camera. it was taken on HWY 287 in the Panhandle. I was alone and was struck by the sky, clouds and dust on the horizon, so I pulled over waited until there wasn't any traffic to take the pic.

I had to vote for a pic that showed the topic without lots of water . . . . the water pics were all good, but sorta strange if you hardly ever see a big body of water.

I voted for 12 because of composition. I felt that is might not be the best sunset but the best picture. I would have voted for #4 if it had been cropped like this;

The airplane wing really detracts from an otherwise incredible picture. A lot of folks forget that the sun does not need to be in the center of a sunset picture to be effective!

It is called the rule of thirds. If you look at many professional photographs of people and watch interviews on the news, very often the subject is off center. The same happens in movies.

12 does have best composition and the boat on the right side gives perspective to everything. without it it's just another sunset.

Don't be put off amateur photographers(and I include myself here :lol: ), the contests are open to all. The intention of this board is to share and have fun. Your pic will judged by other members of CT, be they professionals or amateurs but at the end of the day it's the sharing that counts ;-)

It's also nice to hear comments from folks with 'an eye' like Gelbvieh 5, it makes things interesting :D

A great bunch of pics and I'm in agreement that 12 is very easy on the eye - it's not at first the most striking image but very well balanced. :D Speaking of cropping though - the heads are an interesting feature.

I uploaded about eight pics and chose the one that stood out most as a thumbnail. Maybe because it wasn't as red/orange dominant as the others but I reckon I did choose the best of that group.
I can see the first of those in the 'review pane' Alison, nope, you didn't make the right choice. Really like that sunrise. Though which of the two pics in the poll with your name on is yours, I presumed the lower one and I can't see all of it?

Ali ,your country is on my bucket list ,had the opportunity to go last year but couldn't get away. You and Knersie live in a beautiful part of the world . :mrgreen:

3way you may be one of the few that doesn't "cheat" :lol: because if you did you would know that Rego has a pic in the contest . :D

We might have to make some changes as this really is not an anonymous contest like it should be . :tiphat:
