I just recently fenced part of our 10 acres and went to the auction and bought a angus cross steer. He weighed around 505 and i paid 1.17
I kept him in a barn stall for about a week and fed him sweet feed every morning and afternoon as well as hay. I tried getting a halter on him but with no success. I let him out in the field thinking that might just help him( i know dumb) but now he wont come back to the stall i can walk him with sweet feed to the doors but then he takes off. We tried taking a rope and dragging him but decided we were pissing him off too much. We bought him to butcher in the winter so should i just let him do his thing out in the field and not worry about a halter. Also this is my first steer ever so I am new to all this.

First, this is anything to call "please help" for, just feed him where he is as close to your building as possible. Also :welcome: to the boards!
