Nice Looking Santa Gertrudis bull. How is his mommas breeding. How many cows do ya'll have. I like him but we just bought a bull from Gray Oaks farm in Alabama thats sire is Ricardo and Dam is off Ben Hur ET and Kubecka cow. He is thick dark and polled.

The bull's mama goes back to Little Rock Farm, she was a first calf heifer and we think she did a great job. She is one of the best tempered cows we have. Right after she had him we got in with her to help get him dried off because it was the coldest damned day of the year and the wind was howling through the barn like crazy, she just stood there and talked to him.

We have close to 200 cows, calves and bulls at the present time. OUr son is trying to build his gert herd, right now he has 4 purebred and 2 Star 5.

like to see some current pics too.. he is lacking a whole lot of thickness. at five months he should be showin plenty of mass if its in him . and light boned for a gert..cant understand why some folks waste time halterbreaking one like that

I will get current pic soon, weather here not cooperating to take pics and I haven't been home until after dark. I appreciate your comments on the bull however, the reason he was halter broke was for my son to show him in a cow/calf class. IF you have read my previous posts my son is trying to build his gert herd. He halter breaks every calf that is born to his herd so that he is able to show cow/calf pairs at our county fair and also at the district 6 Santa Gertrudis Show and Sale. So I don't think for a moment we were wasting our time. In defense of the calf, if you know anything about the gert breed you should know that more times than not they mature at a slower rate than other breeds.

Here are a couple of pictures of the calves we had late last summer that were about 4 months maybe 5. Don't remember exact date of picture taken.

if this works it will be the first time I have successfully posted a picture

The third one got cut already. The 1st and 2nd are temporarily bulls. We will see what they look like come spring with nothing but fescue hay, cold and snow/ice between now and then.

I'll give you 100 dollars for him max. If that tells you anything. I have to agree with alacowman stop wasting your time with this one.
If that calf is only worth $100.00 I dang sure ain't raising any Gerts, and can't understand why anybody else would either. Give ya $125.00. Tells me something, but I'm not talking about the calf.

Your gerts seem longer than most i've seen. Don't know a whole lot about them but must i'v seen are short like their brahmah ancestors. Only ever had one gert cow and she was a doll and threw great calves out of an excellent Simbrah bull.

What do you have against the breed. Are you against other brahman influenced breeds as well?
Think you're misreading my post. Master Producer said it was only worth $100.00 max. I've never seen a Gert. up here, but I did'nt think it looked that bad and I'll take everyone that looks like that for a $125.00 which is 25% more than what was stated that he was worth. In my Braunvieh mag. wwwLamunecacattle.com has some Simbraviehs that I think look dang good, course they were bred by Braunvieh. So, no I have nothing against cattle with some Brahman influence.
