Dr. Darin Stansfield was at my farm yesterday to castrate a 4 month old bull calf. He also performed a pelvic score on an October heifer. I showed him a heifer calf with pinkeye. I treated her 4 days ago with LA 300. He recommended that I give her another treatment and to use draxxin. I did late yesterday.

Lots of Pinkeye discussion here lately. This might be helpful. Darin is having a new custom vaccine produced that will be available in three weeks. The laboratory that makes the vaccine told him that they were including my strains of Moraxella bovis and M. bovoculi in the new vaccine because they had not seen that strain. Where it came from is impossible to say. But it is very aggressive. Darin recommended that I use Draxxin in future treatments instead of LA products.

BTW: My heifer is an October and she is small. Her grandsire is Grandmaster and she is 5/8 Simmental 3/8 AN. I was worried about her potential to calf. She is 15 months old. The two measures he got were 15 cm and 13.5 cm for a total score of 202.5 square cm. That is very good and she does not look that big. He said to breed her anytime.

Hhmmmmmmmm........now who was it that recommended draxxin to you several times? Hmmmmmm..........

Hopefully your vaccine works, my understanding is they have performed less than hoped for so keep some draxxin around.

Responding very rapidly to the Draxxin. :tiphat:

The only thing I use LA200 or 300 for is pink eye. Also give them 3 cc of pen in the eyelid. Eye is cured. It works. When it no longer works I may try something else.

Winter pikneye is rarely caused by the typical pinkeye cuases. No flys spreading it from animal to animal. Usually an eye irritation from foreign matter (chaf, dust), being poked, etc.
