Using 1/8 th of a cup of pyrex in a quart of water, and flush it out pretty good with a spray bottle with a few sprays along with your choice of treatment will clean the eye out of bacteria. I have used this several times, and it does not harm the eye, but it clears it right up. I have used the puffer before, but I think the purex and water clears it quicker. I only had to treat it one time with the pyrex water solution.
I read once where someone could not get the calf or cow up that had pink eye, so they used a high powered water gun that shoots a strong stream of water and hit the cow's eye with the solution that way.

The spiny amaranth has reached maturity and the other heavy pollinated weeds, and they are rough on the calves eyes. It is causing them to tear up, and it is attracting the flies. If you have any of these weeds and the cows an calves are having to grave inbetween them, it would be better to clip these down to keep them spines and irritating pollen out of their eyes.
