I've been between Dallas and Ft. Worth more times then I wanted to be and I've never seen a Tyler there either. What space there is there between the two cities is getting smaller by the minute.

BTW, I heard on the radio this morning that Fort Bend is the fastest growing county in all of Texas. Houston and San Antonio are going to be neighbors in a few ears at the rate it's growing now.

Probably has been irratated by the winter pasture grasses going to seed in our area right now. Don't you believe that cow flop about Bramers and in Herefords on pinkeye. Pinkeye is caused by a herd management problem or a lack of I should say. Pinkeye is contagious no matter the breed.

Maybe they moved it. I have been watching "Bonanza" and I think they moved Lake Tahoe according to their map.

with Tyler area a general idea as to where we are!

Well kinda is, there is Tyler county and Tyler which is in Smith county I think.

My heifer has a creamy type of discharge from one of her eyes...I think this might be pinkeye...was wondering if anyone would know...also I did notice a couple of my other cows did have watering of their eyes but not real bad. Does pinkeye clear itself up? Also we since have put all the cattle in new paddocks with lovely feed on it so there arent anymore dry seeds or dust or dirt anywhere, would this help get rid of it? Keeping them on fresh feed I mean. We have alot of land so we change their paddocks about every couple of months...there are 6 cows on 10 acre paddocks. Unfortunately however we hadnt completed fencing all the other paddocks and they were stuck in one for several months so it got really low on nutritional value and high on seeds and bacteria I think. Is this what one means when they say pinkeye is a management problem? How can I prevent it in the future? Thanks and yes I am very new at this as well...

I have a brahma cross cow
that I believe may be developing
pinkeye. I have never had a cow
with pinkeye b-4, but this one has
a lot of light red/pink in the white part of
one of her eyes. This is pinkeye,
right? There is no weeping around the
eye. Is there any treatment for this other
than the patch or a shot? I was hoping there
was something I could put in her feed to help
clear this up.

All these answers are good. One thought: if the cow has been grazing on a pasture with grass that has awns (like wheat or some grasses) or perhaps in a range which has cactus, --that might be the etiology (cause) of your problem. Have a vet look at it.

You might want to try mixing some iodine with your minerals. I've found that to help prevent pinkeye.
