Got a steer that's due to process at the exact day the last day of 28 day withdrawal period would be.
My first inclination is to go ahead and treat him tonight, Any thoughts to the contrary?

Treating him with LA200 or 300? My old vet (now in semi-retirement) always said to add an extra week on the withdrawal time. Not sure if he felt the same way about Draxxin.

That said, is the steer for private consumption? As in, just you & your wife, maybe family? If not, I'd talk to the processor and see what they think/recommend.

Yes it is LA 300 we have. A quarter is going to us and the rest to friends.
Draxxin is 18 days withdrawal correct? We could get a dose of Draxxin tomorrow.

My wife thought about later, but I don't think that either will be an option, as they are extremely busy, and I don't want to rock the boat.
Doesn't hurt to ask.

I called to get three lambs processed a couple of weeks ago expecting to be given a date a month or more from now and they said, "How about Monday?" They are in the freezer now. And these guys get calls like this sometimes and sometimes people don't show when they have an appointment.

Tough one, for every solution has its drawbacks.
There use to be a sterile medicated solution you could buy to wash the eye with. It was said to have aided in treating pinkeye. It was expensive for what it was so I always thought it must be good or no one would buy it, HaHa. No withdrawal period.
I bought a bottle and used it on a calf. The calf got better about the same time an untreated calf running out got over a case without being treated.
Neither left a scar or blue eye.
Might be worth a try for I have seen it on the shelf recently at the local feed store.

Why treat. In a month it won't matter if he has a bad eye or not

Personally i think i would just glue a patch on and let it be. Id rather have a few days reduced feed intake than the antibiotics at this point, but that's just me.

Put some "tomorrow" in his eye, glue a patch on and call it good. I'm not a fan of processing one that has had a dose of antibiotics that recent.
Sorry for not being on topic with this forum but I couldn't find out how to send you a personal message, anyways I was just wondering where in N central Arkansas are you from

@Ethan Hammack ... First welcome to the CT family.... if you go to the little envelope top right next to your name, you can send private messages through that...
Also, please go to your name, down to account details and down to location and put in a general location of where you are so we can identify with it when you post or ask questions. I for one cannot remember 99% of where people are unless they have been on here a long time... it's that "senior thing"... 😆😆😆😆
