Anyone graze in a pine plantation? What grasses grow best under pines? What has been your experience?

It's bad hot here. The pines use up a lot of moisture, but they provide shade during these 100 degree afternoons and keep the grass from cooking.

Well in the fall I plant food plots in the pine thickets in Louisiana rye grass and clover do good with very little care. So I'm sure you can grow it

Basal area has to be more like quail habitat than pure timber production. Something like 40.
Assume the farm already exists and adapted to the climate and soil. Houston Black Clay here, Alkaline; Pine not happy here. Most of my ramblings in Acid, Sandy Loam, Pine Forests, planted and natural, were nil to amount to anything under the trees but pine needles.
