Picking Next Steer

Talked with the young man and he said one of the local banks was going to loan him the money to buy the steer and pay a small interest fee. Told him to come to us and we would wait til he sold the steer at the fair next year to ask for payment and no interest.
It is up to him.

Going to do that VCC.

That is very kind of you to do that for him. What if the steer got sick and died?

Young man came out today and picked 404. they are coming back tomorrow because we are preg testing and it will allow us to put all the steers together and he can be really sure that that is the steer he wants.
I really want him to get the best steer for him possible.

Friends son picked 404 and took him home a week ago. That steer has a great temperment for a first timer.

Daughter is a bit worried about trying to work with her new steer. Her knee is still giving her trouble. Getting the 4-H ear tag this weekend and will need to get it in and take some pictures.

I am so furious right now it is unreal!
Just got a call from the people who have daughters 4-H ear tags. They kept telling me they were going to drop the tags off at the store, bring them to the meetings. Never had the tags.
Well they have now left them at the store TODAY! Pictures are due on the 1st of the month!

Going to let the agent know for next year I will pick up my daughters ear tags directly from her office so no more waiting for these people to drop it on us at the last second.

Well 402 is HONKY!!!!!

Rather interesting getting a halter on him tonight. Luckily still had her last steer Chuck Roast. Put the halter on him and led him up the chute and 402 followed but the backed out. So Daughter just led him by the fence until 402 came all the way up and we got him caught in the squeeze chute. We just left him in there and scratched him for awhile then turned him out with the halter.

The drift in front of my horse trailer has melted so going to pick up a bulk bag of mixed feed and start him on that.

The heifer she is raising was much easier to get the halter on.
