I understand that the state of Texas has a special permit for farmers to use Prowl as a preemergent weed control herbicide, particularly for crabgrass and other weeds that here to fore have been difficult to kill?

Has any one used it, and if so how did it work? Any problems noted?

I understand it will become generally available in June of this year.

This is the first year the label came out, last year we tried it at 1 qt per acre and between the abnormal rainfall and the drought spells we had it is hard to say if it helped or not, the label now shows for up to 3 qts so we are trying that we applied 2/12 and watered an inch behind it into Tifton-85, so far no graspers but you might wait and repost after spring. Everyone will have a better idea then about how well it works by then.

Prowl is used as a pre-emergent in LA sugarcane fields. It is effective at controling seedling johnson grass, itch grass, and other annual summer grasses.
