This is another portion of the pasture that as you can see needs lime in which the whole pasture is 12 acres and one day this week I am putting 2 tons of lime per acre

I hope you have better luck getting rid of that sage grass with lime than I have. I think mine thrives on it, of course it would probably help if I would put about twice the fertilizer on it.

Cabo I had it worse than that one year and did the same application and it took care of it. How much lime did you put down per acre ? I will probably bushhog that pasture ssoon maybe before I lime to clean it up a lil bit. I should have fertilized last year but I was lazy and didn't I will this year. Its a good pasture I had to spray it with 24d one time and cleaned it up well last year

My farm needs right at 2 ton to the acre also. It's so wet that I can't get it done though. I'd love to be able to spread it myself in smaller increments but haven't found a method yet.

I put 2 tons per acre, guess I was expecting too much. It would be nice if someone would come up with a spray that would kill it and not good grasses. If I cut it before it begins to head out it makes good hay but thats not always possible.

Have you tryed burning a field to kill it.

Denver im not sure how that would help because the root system is established in the soil. Yea, I am lucky I have the ability to spread it myself which helps a great deal.

Gotcha... I am glad lime takes care of my issue I have OCD when it comes to pasture weeds and unwanted growth it really bothers me.. I would be willing to try anything to get weeds out.

You need to come over here for about a year and help me, seems like sometimes i have more unwanted growth then wanted, but it is better than none at all.

Thanks Denver...It was an old new holland baler i cant remember what model it was. I scraped it because it gave me nothing but problems it one one of the first new hollands that came after the really old balers that you cranked the crank to wrap the bales.

Did some bushhogging this morning to make pasture look better till the lime can take care of the broom straw.

Thanks Jenkins I am seriously obsessed with caring for my pastures lol They are not the best ever but I like them I just wish was more clover but cant have alot of clover if i continually spray 24-d

I've learned not to spray more than i pint to the acre wont kill the clover but will get the butter cup in late march.
