I need to partition my pasture into different areas separated by hotwire. To control access to the different areas I am thinking about a gate that would switch them from accessing one pasture from another. The image (small file) below describes my proposed gate.

My question: Is this going to confuse the cattle? Will they get it?

In some of the pastures we'll set up lanes to water with hotwire and when they head up to water just swing the gate section of hotwire to the other side. That way when they head back they're in the other pasture. Your deal isn;t really much different and won't/shouldn;t pose a problem. The only problem we've had with it is that when the cows see you anywhere near the gate they think they should be moved, even if they just came off the other pasture the day before.

i have a 30 ac pasture broken this way with a hot wire gate and hot wire dividing the pasture. it works very well. when they come out of the trap the hot wire moves them to the right pasture. i feed them every day in the trap. this also calms them down. i only do this with the hiefers i am going to ai.
