I was thinking of putting some cow calf pairs with my replacement heifers and I was wondering what everybody else thinks of the idea. The heifers have been weaned and away from the cows since early November and I don't plan on taking the mothers of any of the heifers to that fence. Thanks in advance for advice.

They should be fine. Sometimes you will have one try to nurse, but most do not. (And you would have to have a cow that allowed it.) I turn mine back out with their own mothers after a couple months usually. All you can do is keep an eye out.

If they aren't good and weaned by now, they never will be.. I had a yearling I shipped this year because she kept looking at teats after she was weaned for 4 months.. don't need any of that BS, she was on the truck.
