I am thinking of trying orchardgrass here in South Carolina. I am wanting some info and advice on this grass.

Usually it degresses after a few years then you need to reseed again. A good grass though; the cattle love it.

What are you using it for? Hay or pasture?

As was said, it isn;t as persistent as KY31 but still a viable grass in a mixture. If cutting it for hay cut it about 4-5 inches high rather then shorter. Because of the way it grows, cutting it short damages the growth points and will cause it to die out after just a couple of years. In a pasture, rotate the cows off of it beforee it gets eaten down below 4-5 inches and it will persist for a long time.
